Space and Satellite based services and applications are key to strategic and economic development across the world and represent a market which is forecast to be worth $1 trillion by 2020 from the $115 billion today.

The UK currently has around 7% of this Global market with most of the research and business capability concentrated in the Greater South East region of the UK. According to UK Treasury figures, pound for pound, the Space sector out performs most of the other high-tech activities by a factor of four. Ensuring that the UK maintains, or grows its share of this market is therefore of key economic importance.
