The initiative is supported by SEEDA, the South East England Development Agency. Energy plays a major role in the South-East’s economy; the region is a major importer of primary and secondary energy from the rest of the UK and also Europe. Issues such as security of supply, rising oil prices and emissions put pressure on energy suppliers and users to improve energy efficiency and seek out cleaner, cheaper methods of power production and transmission. Businesses in the region are developing such capability offerings. The purpose ENERGISE is to work with all components of the supply chain, from the regions strong research base to end-users and buyers, to create new development opportunities, promote solutions to buyers and investors and help members secure support both individually and collaboratively. Lead by a steering group of businesses and researcher in the sector, ENERGISE intends to actively: Find opportunities to commercialise research and new business ideas; Assist and drive collaborate bids for existing support and to launch new business initiatives Form international contacts and opportunities for members Communicate available skills and skill gaps; Gain a common understanding of areas of relative organisational strengths and interest areas; Showcase current research. "Energise was launched at EnviroBusiness' offical launch event at Brighton 15h September, attended by Jim Braithwaite and delegate from across the energy and environmental sectors" For more information please contact Roy Williamson. |
